The perfect way to end the month! Treat yourself & friends to an Art & Wine evening with a collaboration of local businesses hosted at a 2 star Michelin restaurant.
When: Wednesday 30th August | from 6:30
Where: Lunar, Wedgwood, Stoke-on-Trent, England, ST12 9ER
This month we are doing things slightly differently and celebrating the wonderful V&A Wedgwood Collection we have on our doorstep here at the World of Wedgwood in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Lunar Society, inspiration behind the restaurants name and concept, was an informal learned society of free-thinking West Midlands scientists and industrialists in the late 18th and early 19th century. They met once a month during the full moon, to make the journey home safer in the absence of street lighting. Amongst their members were illustrious personalities such as Erasmus Darwin, Joseph Priestley, James Watt, Matthew Boulton and of course Josiah Wedgwood.
For one half of your evening, Assistant Curator Rebecca Klarner will guide guests through the galleries of the V&A Wedgwood Collection, talking about the Lunar Society with the help of selected objects from the collection.
For the other half of the evening, we will be joined by Fuchsia from Staffordshire based Adega Wine Cellar, who will be leading a full wine tasting experience, sampling a variety of six different wines.
With the birth of Josiah Wedgwood being in Burslem, and him opening his first factory there, we will also be hosting 'Burslem in Paint' an exhibition with works collated by Barewall Gallery.
Join us from 6:30pm to enjoy an evening of history, art, wine and conversation!
